New Job: 6 Steps To Get A Better Job

Get A Better Job

Are you feeling undervalued and underpaid in your current job? It’s completely valid to feel frustrated, especially when your job doesn’t compensate you fairly (we know that many women face this issue) and you have a family relying on you. Perhaps it’s time to consider a job that truly values your effort and pays you what you deserve.
I imagine your panorama:
“Impossible to quit my job! If not, how will I pay for school supplies?”
“The debts are absorbing me. “I can’t quit my job now!”
“I want to quit, but I’m afraid I won’t find a better alternative.”
Many of us have experienced this type of situation, but there is a solution! I have experienced a similar episode, and I hope I can give you the best tips so you don’t suffer so much.

1. Define your goals

Before becoming a mother, did you have dreams you put on hold? You dedicate yourself so much to your motherhood stage to satisfy your baby’s needs that you don’t realize what you have left behind. However, sooner or later, there comes that moment when you say:

“I love being a mother and enjoy it, but… my life needs something more.”

And you’re not a bad mother for that. And yes, you can have it all! For that, we will establish short and long-term goals. Especially now that you are interested in finding a new job. First, you must start with this:

The lifestyle you want

Let’s start by defining what you want your life to look like in a few years. What would an ideal day be like for you?

  • What time would you wake up? What would you do first?
  • Would you exercise?
  • What time would you have breakfast?
  • How would you work? From what time to what time?
  • If you have children, when would you be with them?
  • What projects would you like to pursue? Apart from working, you can learn to dance, bake, etc.

Your work goals

Now, based on how you want your life to be from now on, you can define what you want in your job.

  • Do you want recognition?
  • Dress well and go to work every day?
  • Do you want to work from home?
  • Talk to adults every day?
  • Make important decisions?
  • Have schedule flexibility?
  • Being in charge of people?
  • Help people?
  • Do you do physical or mental things?
  • Make lots of money?

Based on this, you can define what you want most from a job, which is what fills you up with having a job.

2. Evaluate your skills

Evaluate your skills

The next step to finding a better job is evaluating your skills and strengths. It would help to be honest with yourself to determine your abilities and weaknesses. This will help you know what you want to do and what actions to take to achieve it.

How to determine your strengths

On the sheet where you wrote down your goals, also write the activities you have mastered. It would help if you based yourself on the tasks you carry out in your current job and at home.

As for your activities at home, maybe you are good at:

  • Interior decoration
  • Children’s crafts
  • Crochet fabrics

Believe it or not, some activities that you consider everyday and unimportant can be your gold mine in the future since there are people out there who don’t know how to do them or don’t have time to do them, and guess who can help them?

3. Update your knowledge

Now that you know your strengths and weaknesses, it’s time to work. Training not only helps you get a better job, but it opens the doors for you to start a business on your own, especially if you want to generate income from home.

To climb, the ideal is for you to learn a new skill. These tips could be of help to you:

Learn a second language.

Knowing a second language can benefit you both personally and professionally. If you can’t afford a course, there are many free resources online, like language learning apps, websites, and conversation groups where you can practice speaking. Learning a new language takes effort, but it’s worth it. It can broaden your horizons and enhance your career prospects.

Learn new technologies

Technology has advanced more in recent years than it has in the last 1000 years, so it is essential to learn what is new. For example, learn how to use digital platforms to work remotely, update your knowledge in Google Drive or Microsoft Office, research different platforms for video calls, etc. Fortunately, you can learn these skills through countless online courses and even YouTube videos.

4. Develop an eye-catching CV.

The first impression is what counts—a very trite but accurate phrase, especially when you aspire to find a better job. The central objective of your CV is for it to be persuasive and different from the rest. Before creating your resume, take the following into account:

Tips for a captivating CV

Recruiting staff sees too many CVs during the recruiting process. You will go unnoticed if you make yours stand out from the rest noticed. To try to prevent it from happening, you can put these tips into practice:
